Desirable deeds in the first ten days of Dhul Hajjah

It is from the grace of Allah Almighty over His servants that He made seasons of obedience, in which they multiply their good deeds, and compete in them in what brings them closer to their Lord. Among these virtuous seasons are the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, which are days that the Messenger, may blessings and peace be upon him, testified to as the best days of this world, and urged good deeds during them. Rather, Allah Almighty has sworn by it. Allah says in Surah Al-Fajr: “By the Fajr, And the ten nights.”

This requires the servant to strive in it to do a lot of good deeds. And this article is a statement of the virtue of the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah and the actions that are desirable in them.

What should Muslims do in the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah ?

So the Muslim should start the first ten days with sincere repentance to Allah, the Mighty, and Sublime, and increase his good deeds. In general, his attention to the following deeds is confirmed:

1- Islamic Fasting(Sawm)

It is Sunnah for a Muslim to fast on the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah. Because the Prophet(PBUH) urged good deeds during the first ten days. It is desirable to fast the nine days because fasting is one of the good deeds, especially fasting on the day of Arafat while fasting on the tenth day, which is the day of Eid, is forbidden. fasting is one of the best deeds. Allah Almighty chose him for himself, as in the hadith Qudsi:

Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) said, “Allah said, ‘All the deeds of Adam’s sons (people) are for them, except fasting which is for Me, and I will give the reward for it. (Al-Bukhari)

2- A lot of Dhikr(Tahleel, Takbeer and Tahmeed)

The remembrance of Allah (Dhikr) in general and Takbeer in specific.

Tahleel, Takbeer and Tahmeed are from sunnah.

And they are speaking out loudly in mosques, homes, roads, and every place where it is permissible to mention Allah as a manifestation of worship and announcing the glorification of Allah Almighty.

The son of Umar Ibn Al-Khattab and Abu Hurayra used to enter the market during the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah with loud Takbeer.

And the Takbeer in this era has become one of the abandoned Sunnahs, especially in the first ten days. You can hardly hear it except for a few, so it is necessary to recite it out loud to revive the Sunnah and remind the heedless.

Allah Almighty said: “ And pronounce the Name of  Allah on appointed days”(Surah Al-Hajj:28)

3-Performing Hajj and Umrah

The Islamic pilgrimage to the Sacred House of Allah is One of the best things to do in these ten days. Whoever Allah Almighty guides him to perform the pilgrimage to his house and performs his rituals in the required manner will have a share – Allah willing – from what the Messenger of Allah( peace and blessings be upon him) said: An accepted Hajj has no reward but Jannah.

4-The sacrifice

Among the righteous deeds in these ten days is to draw close to Allah Almighty by slaughtering sacrifices in the tenth day of Dhul Hajjah.

So let us hasten to seize those virtuous days, before the negligent regrets what he did.

The Prophet (PBUH) slaughtered two rams as sacrifice and mentioned Allah’s Name and said, “Allahu-Akbar” while slaughtering).

5- Prayer(Salah) & Supplication(Duaa’)

5- Draw close to Allah through prayer, supplication, and enjoining good and forbidding evil

6- Charity& Reciting Qur’an

6- Performing various good deeds: Voluntary Charity, reciting the Qur’an, honoring a guest, maintaining ties of kinship, guarding the tongue, honoring one’s parents, supplicating for them, being keen on observing the regular Sunnah prayers, bringing happiness to the hearts of others, and other good deeds.

Let us urge all of us to seize the opportunity of these days by worshiping, abstaining from disobedience, and doing many good and desirable deeds, as mentioned previously.
